Magswitch Technology moves headquarters from Westminster to Lafayette
LAFAYETTE — Switchable magnet manufacturer Magswitch Technology Inc. announced Friday that the company has moved its headquarters from Westminster to Lafayette, and relocated the operations of a warehouse in Fort Collins to the new facility as well.
Magswitch markets its magnets, which can be turned on and off and include a patented housing technology, for a wide variety of applications, including woodworking, heavy lifting and automation such as the assembly of automobiles.
The company, founded in Australia in 2005, moved its headquarters from 8774 Yates Dive. in Westminster, where it leased about 4,000 square feet, to a 22,000-square-foot building at 1355 Horizon Ave. in Lafayette.

Magswitch closed on the $2.15 million purchase of its new building from an entity called Trek Enterprises LLC in December, according to Boulder County records. The building was previously occupied by Electronic Solutions Inc., which was purchased by Hunter Douglas.
The company, which also has operations in Australia, China, South Korea, India and Germany, moved its headquarters to Colorado in 2010. The new headquarters in Lafayette will include corporate offices as well as a new training facility for clients. The warehouse and distribution operations were moved to Lafayette from 1830 Laporte Ave. in Fort Collins.
“As a fast-growing technology company, this new space not only fits our strategic needs, it also enables us to bring our engineering, research and development, sales and warehouse under one roof,” chief executive David Morton said in a prepared statement. “Importantly, it reflects our commitment to meeting the needs of our customers into the future through our commitment to innovation in all we do.”
Magswitch, which does about $20 million in annual sales worldwide, employs 25 people in Lafayette, and the new digs provide plenty of room for growth. Kelly DeForest, a spokeswoman for the company, said Magswitch is aiming to expand in every department, including marketing, web development and engineering.
“We’re really growing,” DeForest said.
