CU broadband conference slated for February

BOULDER – Federal Trade Commission chairwoman Edith Ramirez and Federal Communications Commission chairman Tom Wheeler will deliver keynote addresses at this year’s Digital Broadband Migration conference produced by the University of Colorado’s Silicon Flatirons Center on Law, Technology and Entrepreneurship.

This year’s conference, slated for Feb. 8-9 and titled First Principles for a 21st Century Innovation Policy, will include several panels and speakers covering three policy dimensions: the connections between innovation and competition, the importance of interoperability and interconnection, and the jurisprudence for innovation.

The conference will be held at the Wolf Law Building on the CU-Boulder campus.

Ways to thank a caregiver

If you have a caregiver or know someone who has been serving as a primary caregiver, March 3rd is the day to reach out and show them how much they are valued!

In addition to Wheeler and Ramirez, speakers will include Federal Trade Commissioner Maureen Ohlhausen, Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs director Howard Shelanski, general counsel from the FCC and FTC, executives from companies like Level 3 Communications and Verizon, and consumer advocates and scholars.

“The Silicon Flatirons’ Digital Broadband Migration conference is a crowning achievement for the center,” Colorado law dean and founder of the center Phil Weiser said in a release. “The concept of ‘network neutrality,’ which was born and debated here first as an academic idea, is now a core policy commitment with bipartisan support. As we look ahead toward future innovation and policy changes, this year’s conference will bring together a special range of speakers and participants to discuss cutting-edge policy proposals.”

Conference attendees can earn 10 continuing legal education general credits, and the conference will be webcast. Registration is available on the Silicon Flatirons website.
