Anna Ewing named executive director of Colorado Innovation Network

DENVER – The Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade on Wednesday announced that Anna Ewing has been hired as executive director of the Colorado Innovation Network and chief operating officer of OEDIT.

Ewing will begin serving in the roles Feb. 17. She will replace Michelle Hadwiger, who had a dual role as COIN director and director of business development for OEDIT. Hadwiger will now focus fully on the business development role.

Launched by Gov. John Hickenlooper in 2011, COIN is a privately funded organization within OEDIT aimed at spurring innovation and entrepreneurialism in the state by partnering with a variety of stakeholders.

WomenGive, a program of United Way of Larimer County, was started in Larimer County in 2006 as an opportunity for women in our community to come together to help other women.

As executive director of COIN, Ewing will lead that mission. As COO of OEDIT, she’ll oversee the day-to-day administrative operations and accounting functions of that organization.

“It is our goal to be the most innovative state in the U.S., and we know that Anna’s leadership will guide us successfully toward that goal,” said Mark Sirangelo, Colorado’s chief innovation officer, chairman of COIN and head of Sierra Nevada Corp.’s Space Systems Division in Louisville.

“COIN continues to create a network of global leaders that encourages relationships to support our innovation ecosystem, grow companies and create jobs,” he continued in the release. “W know that Anna will help us succeed in these ideals.”

Ewing previously served as chief financial officer at Vodafone Americas, having helped lead that company through its disposal of its 45 percent interest in Verizon Wireless. Prior to Vodafone, she worked in finance in various industries, including resort management at Intrawest and advertising at Omnicon Group.

“As a Colorado native, I am incredibly energized to continue the momentum that our economy is experiencing under Gov. Hickenlooper, and I look forward to continuing on a path of growth and prosperity through strategic collaborations with stakeholders throughout the state,” Ewing said.
